About MBMPA
The Malaysia Mind-Body Medicine Practitioners Association (MBMPA) is an organisation that aims to promote the integration of mind and body medicine in healthcare. Registered under the Societies Act 1966, MBMPA was founded by a group of inspiring and passionate mind-body medicine practitioners who seek to increase the awareness and accessibility of evidence-based mind-body medicine practices to healthcare professionals and individuals interested in healthcare and wellness.
MBMPA is committed to making mind-body medicine practices accessible to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, and promoting the integration of mind-body medicine as an alternative approach to managing chronic health disorders that complement conventional medical treatments.

What is Mind-Body Medicine?
Mind-body medicine is a complementary approach to healthcare that emphasises the connection between the mind and body in promoting health and treating illness. This approach recognizes that psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual factors can have a significant impact on physical health and wellbeing, and seeks to address these factors in conjunction with traditional medical treatments.

The need for an integrative approach through mind-body medicine

Addressing the Mind-Body Connection: Many physical health problems have psychological roots or are exacerbated by stress, anxiety, or other emotional factors. Mind-body medicine approaches, such as mindfulness-based therapies, hypnotherapy, and biofeedback, can help address the underlying psychological factors contributing to physical symptoms.

Improving quality of life: Mind-body medicine approaches can help individuals manage symptoms of chronic illness, such as pain, fatigue, and nausea. They can also improve overall quality of life by reducing stress and promoting feelings of relaxation and well-being.

Enhancing treatment outcomes: Mind-body medicine approaches can enhance the effectiveness of mainstream medical treatments by improving compliance, reducing side effects, and promoting healing.

Filling gaps in healthcare: Mind-body medicine approaches can fill gaps in healthcare by providing support and treatment for conditions that may not respond well to mainstream medical treatments.

Our Vision
Envisions a society where individuals have access to integrated healthcare services that address both the physical and mental well-being, leading to a fulfilling and healthy life.
Our Mission
We are committed to promoting the integration of mind and body medicine to healthcare professionals and individuals who are interested in healthcare and wellness. We aim to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and skills related to mind and body medicine and to support the integration of this approach in the healthcare system in Malaysia. Our mission is to empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being through education, research, and advocacy.
Our Values
Integrative. Evidence Based. Empowering.

Integrative: MBMPA recognizes the interconnectedness of the mind and body and emphasizes the integration of various approaches to healthcare. We acknowledge that physical health is influenced by psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual factors. Integrative medicine combines conventional medical treatments with complementary and alternative therapies to provide holistic care. As such we adopt this approach and recognize that addressing the whole person, rather than just isolated symptoms or diseases, leads to better health outcomes and overall well-being.
Evidence-based: MBMPA values the use of scientific evidence to guide clinical decision-making and treatment approaches. We emphasize the importance of conducting rigorous research studies to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of interventions. Evidence-based practices are grounded in empirical data, allowing healthcare professionals and practitioners of Mind-Body Medicine (MBM) to make informed decisions about which interventions are most likely to benefit patients. By relying on evidence, MBMPA ensures that interventions are credible, reliable, and validated by research.
Empowering: MBMPA recognizes the inherent capacity of individuals to participate in their own healing process. We value the importance of empowering patients to take an active role in their healthcare decisions, promoting self-care practices, and fostering a sense of autonomy and personal responsibility. We acknowledge that individuals are unique and that their experiences, beliefs, and values play a significant role in their healing journey. By empowering patients, MBM Practitioners encourage our clients and patients to explore various self-care techniques, make informed choices, and actively engage in their own well-being.
In summary, MBMPA recognizes the interplay between the mind and body and emphasizes the integration of various approaches to healthcare. We value evidence-based practices to ensure credibility and safety. Furthermore, we empower individuals to actively participate in their own healing process, promoting autonomy and personal responsibility. These values contribute to a comprehensive and patient-centered approach to healthcare, focusing on the whole person and supporting overall well-being.
